Horizontes

Today I went to the RIBA building to see an exhibition called Horizontes about madrid social housing from 1981 to 2006. Unfortunatly, I arrived to late as the exhibition was over. Only missed it from 1 day! Instead, they had an exhibition about new university buildings in England which wasn’t as interresting. Thankfully the man at the entrance was kind anough to give us a book about horizontes with a CD showing the different projects that have been taken plae for the last 25 years in Madrid. In the projects showed, we can really sense the spanish colorfull style but the most interresting to me is the visual quality of the book which can really inspire me with a few design techniques for my presentations.

Aujourd’hui, je suis allée au bâtiment du RIBA (Royal Institut of British Architecture) pour voir une exposition appelée Horizontes sur les logements sociaux à Madird de 1981 à 2006. Malheureusement je suis arrivée trop tard et l’exposition était finis depuis 1 jour seulement! A la place il y avait une exposition sur les nouveaux bâtiments universitaires en Angleterre qui était beaucoup moins interressante.Heureusement, la personne qui se tenait à l’entrée fut assez gentil pour nous donné un livre et un CD sur Horizontes nous montrant les différents projetsqui avaient pris place les 25 dernières années à Madrid. On peut vraiment sentir le style coloré des espagnols mais ce qui est le plus interressant pour moi, c’est la qualité visuelle du livre qui peut vraiment m’inspirer avec quelques techniques de design pour mes présentations.

Jeppe Hein The Curve

Today I went to the Barbican centre to see an exhibition from the Danish artist Jeppe Hein which is a plastic ball going through a Roller coaster. The most interresting part about this work is that it had been specially made for the room called the curved due to its unusual shape.

Aujourd’hui, je suis allée au Barbican centre pour voir l’exposition de l’artiste dannois Jeppe Hein qui une boule de plastique qui passe par une sorte de montagne russe. La partie la plus interressante à propos de cette exposition est le fait que cette création a été spécialement faite pour cette salle apellée “the curve” (la courbe) à cause de sa forme particulière.

Alvar Aalto

Today I went to the Barbican centre to see the Alvar Aalto exhibition who is a finish architect, famous for his modernism design. In this exhibition, his work is represented through the eyes of contemporary Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. It is especially interresting to see how Alvar Aalto was interested in the interior of his buildings and how he attached a lot of importance to the furniture which he designed himself. he also attached a lot of importance in using natural materials in his furniture design.

Aujourd’hui, je suis allée au Barbican centre pour voir un exposition sur Alvar Aalto, un architecte finois connu pour son design moderne. Dans cette exposition, son travail est représenté au travers des yeux de l’architecte japonnais contemporain Shigeru Ban. il est spécialement interressant de voir comment Alvar Aalto était interressé dans l’intérieur de ses bâtiments et omment il attachait beaucoup d’importance dans les fournitures qu’il créait lui-même. Aussi il faisait très attention à choisir des marériaux naturels pour les fournitures qu’il créait.

Autocad

Today, I have learned how to modify an object (copy, move, rotate…). This is very useful and makes you save a lot of time when creating an object as you can reproduce and change already made feature.

Aujourd’hui, j’ai appris à modifier un objet (copier, déplacer, rotation…). Ces techniques sont très pratiques car elles permettent  d’économiser beaucoupde temps lors de la création d’un objet car l’on peu reproduire et changer des objets déjà créés.
 

  

  

Shifting sands

Today, I went to the shifting sands seminar to Littlehampton. We saw many different speakers explaining us their projects on the english coastal landscape. Some where more interresting than others. I especially liked the Thomas Heatherwick and Jane wood East Beach café project in Littlehampton or how to transform a common beach cafe into a thriving building. It was specially interresting to see the artist’s progression for the design of this building. From all this presentations I think the one I was the less interrested in was the one about the Tower at Brighton. This project is to build a gigantic tower on Brighton’s seafront to offer a good bird’s eye view to the tourists on the sea, the same idea as the London eye, I’m not really sure if that iseactly what Brighton needs for its seafront.

Aujourd’hui, je suis allée au “Shifting sands” (”déplacer les sables”) à Littlehampton, sur la côte sud de l’Angleterre. Nous avons vu plusieurs différentes personnes qui nous ont présenter leurs projets sur le paysage côtier anglais. Certains étaient plus interressants que d’autres. J’ai particulièrement aimé le projet du “East Beach café” à Littlehampton de Thomas Heatherwick et Jane Wood ou comment transformer un banal café côtier en un exhitant bâtiment. C’était surtout interréssant de voir le cheminement de l’artiste pour arriver au design de ce bâtiment. De toutes les présentations, celle que j’ai le moins apprécier est celle de la tour de Brighton. L’idée est de construire une tour géante sur la côte de la ville pour offrir une jolie vue d’oiseau dur la mer aux visiteurs, un peu comme le “London Eye”. Je ne suis pas sure que ce soit vraiment ce dont Brighton ai besoin.

 

London in map

I went to the London in maps exhibition at the british library. It was a good opportunity to discover how thetown evolved through the ages.

Je suis allée à l’exposition de “London in maps” à la “British librairy”. C’était une bonne occasion pour découvrir comment la ville a évoluée durant les temps.

Autocad

Today, I have learn how to make polylines and many types of objects. This practice is a little complicated as their is a lot of options to to choose from to make a drawing. But once you know it, it is very usefull as you can draw anything you want.

Aujourd’hui, j’ai appris comment réer des polylignes et plusieures sortes d’objets. Cette pratique est un peu compliquée car il y a beaucoup d’options à choisir pour faire un essin. Mais un fois que c’est enregistré, c’est très pratique car on peu dessiner tout ce qu’on veut.

Today, I started to make simple drawings, using lines, circles and ellipses.

Aujourd’hui, j’ai commencer à créer des dessins simples en utilisant des lignes, cercles et ellipses.

Dreamweaver

We spent a morning with Emily to learn how to use the program Dreamweaver, which is used to create websites. She showed us how to create pages and the links.

Nous avons passé une matinée avec Emily pour apprendre comment utiliser le programme Dreamweaver qui est utilisé pour créer des sites internet. Elle nous a montrer comment créer les pages et les liens.

Drawing with David

I went to Teddington for a drawing session with David. Even if the weather was horrible, we spend some time looking at different aspects of the landscape and every details to take in consideration when making the drawing.

Je suis allée a Teddington pour une session de dessin avec David. Même si le temps était horrible, nous avons passé pas mal de temps a regarder les différents aspects du paysage et tous les détails à prendre en considération pour faire le dessin.
